Drink Beer Regularly? Save Money By Brewing Your Own

Drink Beer Regularly? Save Money By Brewing Your Own

A nice cold beer on a hot day – there are few things in life that are more pleasurable, and a visit to their favorite bar for a couple of glasses of their chosen brew is an ideal way for many people to round off the working week.

However, prices can be a major sticking point for many, as price increases have taken a nights drinking to the level where it is now something that has to be balanced against cost. Although there are other reasons to be restrained when it comes to having a few drinks, such as the health benefits of drinking responsibly, many of us have come to the conclusion that there is no reason to pay higher prices when it just doesn’t seem worth it.

People have been aware of the benefits of having a home brewery for some time now. Still, there is a sense that it’s not the same as bought beer – that it somehow isn’t as good. Some people feel that it is just too much effort when it is readily available in stores and bars all around them. Times are changing though and the sky high prices in local bars and liquor stores mean that the money saving benefits of a home brewery are too big to ignore any longer. Being able to have a few beers whenever you want and at a price that suits you is becoming an increasingly popular prospect.

Remember that home-brewed beer is not lesser than paid for beer; it is just a matter of trial and error. It will take a little time to get the end product perfect initially, as there are few if us who are lucky enough to master the art first time around, but even those early batches will still be drinkable; you won’t be wasting your time making something that you can’t enjoy. Then, with some experimentation and a bit of persistence, you’ll be able to create a range of great beers, that are suited to your own particular tastes.

But you’re thinking – home brewery kits must be expensive? Well, not at all. Certainly so, when compared to what you would spend on a months worth of trips to your sports bar to watch a couple of games at a time, you can begin to see big savings very quickly. But you think the atmosphere will be lacking? Not if you invite your friends around to watch the game and enjoy your home brew too. Believe me, by the time you’re producing a quality end product, you’ll have no shortage of people wanting to pay you a visit .

As hobbies go, home brewing is something that can make perfect sense. Rather than having a hobby that goes nowhere, the beer lover can enjoy the feeling of making something themselves, with the added advantage that no beer tastes finer than that which you have brewed to your own recipe. The endless variations that you can come up with will make it more fun than you could imagine, and all for a reasonable price.

Brew Your Own Beer and Save Money

Brew Your Own Beer and Save Money

There are few pleasures in life to match a nice cold beer on a hot day. The best way to round off a hard day’s work is, in many people’s mind, a trip to their favourite bar to partake of a couple of glasses of their chosen brew. However, prices can be a major sticking point for many, as price increases have taken a night’s drinking to the level where it is now something that has to be balanced against cost.

However, there is a sense – as with many things – that it just isn’t the same. Mass production has the benefit of being climate-controlled and linked to ease of sourcing ingredients. Some people feel that it just isn’t worth it. However, as prices at the liquor store and the local bar climb ever higher, it is now more than ever an option to be considered. A home brewery allows you to have a few beers when you want at a price that suits your pocket.

It is sometimes a matter of trial and error. There are few of us who are skilled or lucky enough to have our first batch of home-brewed beer turn out to be just as good as, or better than, the frosty glasses of ale served up at our local tavern. However, with persistence and experimentation, it is possible to brew beer to suit our own tastes. A home brewery means that we can have the best of all worlds. A nice pale ale or a full-bodied stout, a classy dark beer or a crisp lager – it’s your choice, and with practice you can be brewing something you’d be happy to serve to a connoisseur.

Home brewery kits are not expensive. Certainly, when compared to what you would spend on a month’s worth of trips to your sports bar to watch a couple of games at a time, you can begin to see big savings very quickly. Once you have the knack you will find that people are prepared to visit for a couple of drinks when the game is on – they may be willing to pay and, if not, they’ll bring food to go with the drinks you serve up.

As hobbies go, home brewery is something that can make perfect sense. Rather than having a hobby that goes nowhere, the beer lover can enjoy the feeling of making something themselves, with the added advantage that no beer tastes finer than that which you have brewed to your own recipe – the endless variations that you can come up with will make it more fun than you could imagine, and all for a reasonable price.

The Cost Effective Way

The Cost Effective Way

Heartwarming – Humbling – Gratifying

Just some of the emotions you will experience as a “Home Brewer”

But the main thing…cost effective!

I live in New Zealand, I’m very passionate about beer. I’m not a fat old drunk , I’m not obsessed with alcohol but I do enjoy sitting down at a table with friends and family and having a quiet ale (my own brew of course).

If you were to buy 1 box of beer a week for one whole year you would have 52 boxes of beer which is 624 beers @ 330ml which comes out to 205 liters of beer a year.

Ok, so 205L’s of beer costs roughly 60 NZD – now that, my friend, is a lot of money in my eyes when you compare it to the home brew equivalent.

So, 205L of home brew comes out to about 9 home brew kits @ 23L’s each which leaves you at paying only a stunning 0 NZD and that is roughly 1/6 of the price of conventional shop-bought beers.

Getting the Best Home Brew Recipes

Getting the Best Home Brew Recipes

Home brewing beer is a process which can be interesting, frustrating, tiring, rewarding, and any number of other potential things all at once or one at a time. It does take some time and attention to put together the best process for making your own beer, but once you get there you will find that it was well worth the effort and the wait. The difficulty of brewing your own beer is that it can be so tempting to say “oh, forget it – there’s a fridge full of this stuff down at the liquor store and it’s already cool”. Against that, you have to be prepared to put the time in and trust that what you produce will be worth drinking. This puts many people off making their own beer.

Finding the best home brew recipes is not unlike finding typical food recipes. There are old standards that can be followed to the letter and turn out the standard result as you would expect. The joy of making and drinking this kind of beer is that you know what you are getting, and you know it is something you like. The instructions and the ingredients have to be followed and used exactly as the recipe suggests, but for that, you will get the results that you covet – a tasty and enjoyable brew that you will gladly drink time and again. There is no doubt whatsoever that working on this kind of recipe is the way to go when you want a beer that tastes like what you might buy in the shop.

Then there are other recipes which you will find from fellow enthusiasts and from the Internet, which take the old standards and put a spin on them to make something exciting. These can be a little bit less reliable than the standards because they have not been tested as much. However, the fact is that sometimes people want a change to what they are drinking. If they can get that change from a new recipe, then it is well worth changing away from the old method for a time. This can involve a major or a minor change. It is essential to pay all the more attention at the points where the changes are involved, as this is where the recipe can go wrong.

And then, there are the recipes you find through experimenting. These can be the best home brew recipes, as they suit exactly the tastes that are yours and no-one else’s. It allows you to get inventive with what you are doing, and this innovation and experimentation can be the most enjoyable aspect of home brewing beer. Your own inventions can result in the home brew recipes that your friends and family will use for years, or just in something that you will enjoy drinking time and again.

Whichever of the above kind of home brew recipes you go for, the overall result is going to be something worth trying. The enjoyment of beer is something we can all agree to – and making it yourself is better still.

Ingredients Make Something Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts

It cannot be denied that a lot of people don’t see the point of brewing their own beer.
